Trip at a glance
Day 1: Guwahati Airport – Shillong (130kms, 3 Hrs 30mins)
Welcome on arrival at Guwahati Airport/Railway Station and drive to Shillong. En route, witness the Umiam Lake or Barapani – the biggest artificial lake in Meghalaya in amidst of Sylvan Hills adorned by Khasi pines & peerless beauty. If time permits, visit the Cathedral of Mary and Ward’s Lake. Evening free at leisure to explore the region on your own. You may take a walk to the famous Police Bazaar for shopping. Overnight at the Hotel.
Day 2: Shillong – Cherrapunjee – Shillong (60 Kms / 2 Hrs-One Way)
After breakfast, drive to Cherrapunjee, the wettest place on earth, for an awesome day trip. En route, visit the famous Elephant Falls. At Sohra, stop at the Duwan Sing Syiem viewpoint for mesmerizing views of the Hills. After reaching Cherrapunjee, be witness to the gorgeous Seven Sisters (Nohsngithiang) Falls and Nohkalikai Falls. Later, take a soft cave walk inside the Mawsmai Cave. The limestone cave is a natural wonder with innumerable formations inside it. Also, visit the Ramakrishna Mission. Overnight at the hotel in Shillong. Note: Most of the waterfalls are dry during the winter season.
Day 3: Shillong – Kaziranga (325 Kms / 7 Hrs)
After breakfast, drive to Kaziranga. Check in at the hotel. Overnight at the Hotel.
Day 4: Kaziranga
Early morning, go for Elephant ride @5-30 A.M/6: 30 A.M. (Subject to availability and allotment from the forest department). Return for Breakfast to the hotel. After breakfast, proceed for a Jeep safari in the Central Range. With Kohora as the entry point, the Central Range covers the Daphlang and Kathpora. Later enjoy the Local Village & Tea Garden (Outer View) tour. Overnight at the Hotel.
Day 5: Kaziranga – Nameri (130 Kms/3 ½ Hrs)
After Breakfast, drive to Tezpur’s Koliabhomora Ghat of the Brahmaputra River. Board on a locally made country boat to spend a thrilling hour watching the freshwater dolphins and many migratory birds. These belong to the endangered species, Platanista gangetica or Xihu in Assamese. The boat ride will also give you the opportunity to view the Assamese villages, their fishing activities, and the mesmerizing countryside. Overnight at an Eco Camp in Nameri.
Day 6: Nameri
Morning at 5:30 am, take a walk through the Nameri National Park (3 km). It is one of the very few National Parks where you can trek in the park. The trek begins as you embark on a boat to cross the breadth of the Jia Bhoroli River. Walk through the riverbed and into the National Park, the closest you can get to nature!
Return to the Resort for breakfast. A day free for leisure activities like rafting. Rafting (mild rapids) forms a day-long adventure in a raft as you cruise along the waters of the Jia Bhoroli River. The 2.5-hour rafting will acquaint you with numerous birds. Later disembark at the bank.
Day 7: Nameri – Guwahati (250kms/ 5hrs)
After Breakfast, check out and drive to Guwahati. Check in at the Hotel. Later, visit Kamakhya Temple. Enjoy a River cruise over the Brahmaputra River (cruise charges additional).
Overnight at the Hotel.
